My dealer (the same one who promised my JD4300 HST 6 weeks ago) now has my 4300 but not the 420 loader. Has anyone else heard of a shortage of 420 loaders?

According to my dealer (in Eastern Nebraska) the 420 loaders are scheduled out into August. That's one of the reasons I went with the 4300 w/430 loader - they had both in stock (but I had to give up Hydro and go with SyncReverser).I don't want to second guess your dealer's intentions - they are probably upright, but I would think that he would have been able to get a 420 loader within the last 6 six weeks. If they are just now looking it may be along wait. I would suggest that you get the 430 loader if you can find it. Ask them to call other dealers. Or, get the names of the dealers within a couple hundred mile radius and call them yourself. Go to the Deere web site and do a dealer search there.I don't know about implements but dealers can see what tractors other dealers have in inventory through their computer system and can do searches for specific models, etc. to see who has them. Where are you located?Charlie Charlie ....

I have not heard of this shortage but it does seem to put you in a good bargaining position. The 430 loader is a much better loader. I'd ask to get it for the 420 price, or a substatial discount. ....

Scott, I'm glad you have your 4300. I've been waiting 4 weeks now for mine and my dealer tells me it could be another 5 weeks before it comes. I ordered with a 430 loader. I hope it comes within the 9 week window. Dave ....

I've heard the same from a couple of dealers re: 420 loader shortage. I go along with the other postings about the 430 loader; it's a big step up from the 420 - heavier, much more reinforcement on the sides, top and around the rear of the bucket (if my memory serves me right the 430 has 5 reinforcement bands around the rear, the 420 has 2; the 430 is reinforced along the side edges, the 420 has none, etc.). Given your choice/need of the 4300, over the long-term I think you'll be much happier with the 430.Dealers have wanted $4-500 more for the 430 - I'd offer $200 (and a little "guilt").Good Luck. ....

I ordered a 4200 with 420 loader on Feb 19. My dealer found a tractor at another dealer luckily, but I just got the loader yesterday (May 10) There were also two others that were waiting on 420 loaders from my dealer and all three came in at the same time. ....

I'm in west-central Indiana -- dealer is in Terre Haute. Now that the brush is starting to grow and the ground is somewhat dry -- I intend to go ahead and take the 4300 w/ bush hog and box scraper this week whether the loader shows upor not. I will suggest a 1:1 trade-up from the 420 to the 430 if he can get those!ScottC ....
